Infuriated with the power cut in my area, as I put off the call with the BSES executive, a beautiful voice, a song I don’t recognise came along the wind from my balcony.

As I danced to it and snapped my finger which stopped after Yash pointed out that the woman might feel uncomfortable (but I don’t agree with him). Just as the song came to a halt, I clapped. She said thank you and I responded with amazing.

As the conversation went on, we decided to meet on the roof, she stays a floor above mine. We went to the roof, and I got to know she’s from Kenya. She’s called Cisha (if I heard correctly), kids around my home fondly call her Krishna, as she told me.

She has been here for 4 years now. She showed me around the roof. The very first thing that she said to me was “oh, god! You are beautiful! (And then she said the exact same thing two more times). She told a little more about herself, so did I.

I asked her “Do you like Delhi?”, to which she responded that it’s just okay as she isn’t very fond of its people. To which I agreed. She confirmed if I’m from Delhi, I told her a little about my state. She said she finds Dehradun v pretty.

Later, she watered the plants, had a word with a few neighbours as she knows many. We came downstairs after she insisted on showing her place. The light had now returned.

Taking off my slippers, I entered her place, quite cool decor, very homely vibes. She offered me a glass of water. And asked me what’s the book about that I carried with me. I told her it’s my go to book. And left it for her to read after realising she likes reading.

Just as I was leaving, she shared her number. And I saved it on my phone as “Krishna”
